Celebrate life and sip on homemade sensations this summer

There’s something to be said for South African summers: they’re generally sizzling hot, filled with fun and something cold and refreshing is always at hand when we entertain!

This summer should be no different, but with a twist, thanks to the Iced Tea Recipe Collection; a collaboration by South Africa’s favourite tea brands, Freshpak Rooibos, and Five Roses! This collection pulls out all the stops and throws convention to the wind!

Take this delectable recipe using Five Roses Green Tea, ginger, mint and honey. Served in an ample glass and garnished with mint leaves, it will leave your guests asking for top-ups, no doubt! Best of all, it’s affordable and simple to create!


  • 6 Five Roses Green Tea tea bags
  • 1,5 litres boiling water
  • 100g fresh ginger, unpeeled and sliced
  • 1 cup mint leaves
  • 50 – 80 ml honey
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • Lots of ice
Preparation: 30 minutes Refrigeration: 2 hours

  • Bring the water and ginger to the boil in a large saucepan over high heat
  • As soon as it starts to boil, remove the saucepan from the heat, add the tea bags and mint
  • Cover and let the tea steep for 15 minutes
  • Strain the tea into a jug
  • Stir in the honey and lemon juice and let the tea cool before refrigerating
  • Serve over lots of ice and garnish with more mint leaves
Or try this delicious Freshpak Rooibos Iced tea recipe, with berries, honey, lime, and vanilla – the perfect summery sunshine drink! Pour into a couple of drinking jars, pull up the lounger and chillax next to the pool after a sweltering day!


  • 5 Freshpak Rooibos tea bags
  • 1 litre boiling water
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice/lime cordial
  • 1/4 cup berries (eg. cherries, strawberries or mixed berries)
  • 1-2 tablespoons vanilla essence
  • 80-100ml honey
  • Ice (as needed)
Preparation: 30 minutes Refrigeration: 2 hours

  • Place the tea bags into a jug, add boiling water and allow to steep for 5 minutes (or longer if you prefer a stronger iced tea)
  • Remove the tea bags, add lime juice, honey and vanilla essence and stir
  • Let the tea cool to room temperature and refrigerate until chilled
  • Serve with lots of ice and garnish with mint and berries
