Mexican Valentine

Tuesday, March 06, 2018
This Valentine's Day, we took the plunge and went out for dinner to celebrate. It was more to celebrate the first grown-up night out with friends of 17 years than for the romance of the celebration. The restaurant of choice for the night was La Rosa Mexican Grill and Tecquileria at the Honeydew Village Centre on Christiaan de Wet.

We had booked as far back as December and were pleased to note that the restaurant reconfirmed our booking via SMS. One Uber trip later, we were at the restaurant - dressed accordingly - and ready for the menu and a celebratory tequila. The welcome at the restaurant was great, both the waiting staff and the management on duty were friendly and accommodating especially with the required photograph taking.

One of the starters we chose was Nachos which was a serving so large we almost didn't need a main meal. The Jalapeno's on the Nachos were delicious, there was loads of cheese and of course guacamole on the side. #delicious

We did have a few rounds of tequila shots which complimented the food, the company and the atmosphere.

After the nachos, we had Pollo y Maiz - grilled spicy chicken, corn and red onion salsa, chipotle aioli, avo and cilantro and Husband had the Chili Con Carne - Mexican slow cooked beef mince with beans, with red rice, and baked with mixed cheese.

The one thing that we absolutely loved, was the artwork around the restaurant in particular the bathrooms. There was no indication of who did the work but it certainly added a special something to a bathroom visit.
